Hello Again!

We're back! We didn't think we would be back in town until we leave for Australia, but some errands needed to be done so we are luckily able to update you all again. As I said in the last post, the last 10 days we have spent on the island of Malo. Upon our arrival, we really didn't know what to expect, but the time spent on Malo soon became our favorite. After being greated warmly with a welcoming dinner, we learned that we would be in charge of doing church services almost every night that we were there, as well as the main Sunday service. Although we were a bit intimidated at first, the opportunities to share each day ended up being very rewarding and were much easier than we first thought. During the days, the people there were glad to take us out fishing, show us how to make their native foods, as well as invite some of us to go play soccer with them every afternoon. We were also able to get into the ocean for the first time since getting to Vanuatu, and some of us soon became obsessed with snorkeling every free moment that we had (Nathan & Albin). The island was absolutely beautiful and our room, an old school room, was located within several steps of the ocean, allowing us to fall asleep to the sound of the waves each night. Another higlight for us was just being able to build relationships with the youth group and people that spent time around the church. The people there treated us like royalty with their amazing hospitality and friendliness, and when the week and a half came to an end we were given a huge farewell feast/party that most of the church attended. Although we were only on the island for a little over a week, we soon became very close to our new friends, and it was very hard to say goodbye. This morning (Friday) we woke up early to pack up all of our things and take the boat ride across the water to Aore, where we got settled in for our final 2 weeks of outreach. Time here in Vanuatu seems to be flying by, but we are enjoying every moment of it. It is very exciting to see God work in our team, our attitudes, and our lives, as well as everyone we are able to build relationships with. Continue to keep us all in your prayers! Thank you all once again! -Team V
